I was recently introduced to a great book, The One Thing by Gary Keller.

Gary talks about success habits and proposes this one question:

“What is the one thing I can do such that by doing it everything else will be easier or unnecessary?”

Isn’t that simple and so cool?

He says to make this a habit and apply it to all areas of your life: spiritual, business, personal, relationships, financial, etc.

So, as I began to apply this one question, suddenly I had more time.

Yes, I got in a long hike this weekend, researched, wrote, dyed my hair, worked on my class, made a big pot of soup, weeded the garden, talked with my children, worked with a client on Saturday and relaxed on Saturday night.

How could one focus question shift time, right?

I challenge you to try this simple exercise this week:

Write out a few of these questions and take action. Be “on purpose” in your answers.

  • What’s the one thing I can do to achieve my health goals?
  • What’s the one thing I can do to relieve my stress?
  • What’s the one thing I can do to improve my skill in?
  • What’s the one thing I can do to improve my relationship?
  • What’s the one thing I can do to achieve my exercise goals?

You get the idea.. make a brain dump of five of these and take the action step.

Please comment below and let me know how it goes. I am doing this with you!
